Atmospheric Choir sound test

Atmospheric Choir sound test

2005-03-05 by Alien Martian

Hi Jon,Sam (AN200 user) and Pete,

Ref:Atmospheric Choir sound test

Ok just thought I would let you know how I got on.I
tried out your setup tips, the sounds are heading sort
of the right direction, just missing the ooohs and
aahhh's effect. But still it has that chilling
ambience.
However, I will try romplers. But I did get even closer
when I used a virus c, I used the random button to get
variations.
Many thanks for your help.

Regards
Alien

You can also get some pretty good choir sounds with the Waldorf Q/mQ
but they have wavetables with alternative waveforms some of which are
well suited for that and the Virus (I think) has 64 spectral
waveforms. They both have the "unfair advantage" of more waveforms!

i think u confuse the Q/mQ with the UWave I/Wave/II/XT/
the Q/mQ is analog modeling similar to AN1X
and they have very few waveforms.
The Wavetables are only on the UWave I/Wave/II/XT/ family

it is indeed pretty hard to get a real human choir out of an
analog subtractive synth, u can try something .. but it will
sound very much like an 80s vocoderish sound then the one u are after

ciao

He's right, the microQ/Q Series has 2 Wavetable Sets including several tables for
Oscillator 1 and 2...

I have both the mQ and the Microwave II and, although the Microwave
II has better choir patches, there really are some OK choir sounds
on the mQ. I checked one in particular and it uses a waveform from
alt. osc. #1 (wavetable).
