My An1x is in it's gig bag, so I can't look at my settings but I did post something a while back on this. Should be able to find it in the archives but you may have to go back pretty far. HTH. My advice would be to load the "AN Voices" patch and then play around with tweaking it. The amp. and pitch envelopes should be about right using "AN Voices" as a basic template but you might need to add noise to make it "airy-er". I've got an OK atmospheric choir patch for my Novation A-Station but I have no idea how it was made. So, although I know it's possible to get an approximation with VAs, ROMplers are better suited for airy, atmospheric choir sounds. --- In AN1x-list@yahoogroups.com, Alien Martian <alien1x@y...> wrote:

There are some nice organ type pads and some saw tooth synth pads which you can make on an AN1x. But much of the 'choir' type sounds are sample based and as we've discussed before, this is not the type of sound for which any virtual analog synth loans itself to readily. And then there is that great sample from A.P.L.' s 'The Calling' too...;-) If you're up to making your own Voices, here an idea: Take an organ preset on the AN1x and roll off the Edge on both OSC (50-75) then the Filter Cutoff. Modify the Amp EG with an Attack time of 85-90, Sustain of 110-127, and a Release of 64-85. Add some Velocity and/or Filter Sensitivity from 12-32. Set the pmod Depth on each Osc to +3, -3 respectively. Change the Vari Effect to Symphonic and adjust the Mod Freq upwards to .34 or .42. No offense intended, but there seems to be a reoccurring theme to your posts and while you appear to be reluctant to utilize samplers or sample based synthesisers (ROMplers) -you haven't elaborated on why so one can only speculate. If this is NOT the case, then I would encourage you to check out something along the lines of SampleTank or UltraFocus if your inclined towards software based solutions - or if hardware is more your bag, then you should ckeck out eBay for a Roland JV1080 which are sellling for a song on the 2nd hand market today ($325 on average.) This will allow you access to the 'choir' 'breathy' type of vocal sounds you describe. Jon

Hi Jon, I will take your advise and tryout various samples etc. I was always under the impression 'Enigma' created those breathy/choir voices from hardware synths. Thanks for putting me in the right direction, I always wondered how those sounds may have been created. Regards Alien1x __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Hi Dan, As Jon advised me,I have not really tried Romplers.I will have to try this out. However, I have tried to take a sample from a Enigma CD then played it back through 'reaktor4' grain cloud synth.Could not quite play it back via An1x setup as keyboard.I think Reaktors grain cloud is only a sample player/resynth player. Sounds like an interesting idea, unforutnately I know next to nothing about Reaktor so I can't help. I've tried something similar using the demo for Cronox2 from Linplug. Jon

Hi, I found my original post in the archives about this so here are the settings I use to try and approximate this sound. I think it sounds better in the high end, and sounds ok when played in split mode with a string sound. 1. Start with a string sound that's already there. I believe I started with #49 analog in the factory set. 2. Close the VCF Cutoff on both oscs. 3. Add some resonance to round out the sound. 4. Use some LPF12 with the cutoff at 81. 5. Play around with the FM section. IIRC I have Pmod depth at -1, FM to algorithm and FM depth at +18. These are set to taste so take my numbers lightly. 6. Add effects to taste. "Egun On, Lagunak!!"
