RE: AN200 editor

RE: AN200 editor

2005-02-09 by lars_arnwald

Hello,
I got an AN200 a couple of days ago. It's been sitting in a store for
years for demo purposes. They can't find the accompanying CD. I know
it contains both Win and Mac editors.
Having searched the Internet and only finding the Mac version and one
for Emagic Sounddiver I'm about to give up. My platform is Win98SE.
Out of desperation I'm asking any list member to copy the CD into a
CD-R, and of course I will reimburse you for all costs. Please reply
off-list.
Regards, Lars Arnwald

Try this url:

http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/AN1x-list/files/Windows/

(files section of the yahoo AN1x-list group ;) )

IIRC, the AN200 can be edited with the same software as for the AN1x...

I've used the AN1x Expert Editor for a number of years since I also
have a PLG150-AN. I'm sure I can edit AN200's VOICE data with the
same editor. However, I also need to edit PATTERNS and SONGS. I don't
think the AN1x editor can do that. Comparing the AN1x editor with
with pictures of the AN200 editor there are some small differences,
at least concerning the main page. I assume the secondary pages
differ too.

If sharing Voice with other users is important to you, than use AN1xEdit as
previously mentioned.

Otherwise, know that AN200 Editor = AN Expert Editor aside from a disabled feature for
the Arp/Seq sync. On the lower right hand side of the AN Expert Editor main page the
button labeled 'VOICE' has been substituted with 'PATTERN' on the main page of AN200
Editor - the function is identical, only the labels differ.

You can download and review the AN200 Editor Manual here:

http://www2.yamaha.co.jp/manual/pdf/emi/english/synth/AN200EditorE.pdf

Contact Yamaha and they will provide you a replacement CD-ROM if you feel you need to
own AN200 Editor. However, neither AN200 Editor, AN Expert Editor or AN1xEdit will allow
you to edit Songs - only the Step Sequencer and FreeEG.

Regards,

Jon

Hi Jon,
I've compared my standalone AN Expert Editor (hope you're talking
about the same) with how the AN200 Editor is described in its manual.
Also I connected my AN200 to the Expert Editor. Pressing VOICE brings
up the voices from the AN200, there's no way I can reach the patterns
of the AN200 with this editor. According to the AN200 Editor manual
pressing PATTERN brings up the patterns for editing, initialization,
etc, so there's a bit more to it than just differences in labeling.
Yamaha of Sweden refers me to their downloading pages where you only
find the Mac version, but I've managed to get in touch with sombody
else who will help me. Anyway, thanks for your reply, it helps me
getting a grasp of my new axe.
Lars

Voice are Patterns, Patterns are Voices - there is no difference. If you believe the editor will
allow you to edit the actual sequence data on the AN200, you are mistaken.
