Hi!

The OB12 is a buggy piece of junk. And the pitch wheel and portamento
have that zipper sound. It's noisy, quirky, and thin. (I used to own
one.)

Don't hoild back, tell us what you really think ;-) haha ha

I think Sayer owned one for awhile, or was going to, and parted ways with it.

The OB12 was a cool idea, but poor execution. It lacked much in terms
of DSP power, and software quality. The construction was excellent, I
wish more keyboards were built that sturdy. The sliders are small,
but by no means flimsy, and the knobs are a delight. And the display
is still my favorite of any out there! I love how as soon as you
tweak a knob, it shows you a graph of the parameter you are changing.

But I sold mine for the same reason I sold my Novation KS-4 - I just
can't take myself seriously playing a synth that can't do a smooth
pitch bend. I now use an Alesis Micron. Alesis has outdone everyone
in terms of parameter control and faithful analog reproduction. If
you've never played an ION, try one. The only other synth that's
as "analog" as the ION perhaps would be the Korg MS-2000, but 4
voices is a tad weak. All the others are just too "emulated"
sounding. Yamaha's offerings are all great sounding, but there are
little things wrong with them. Like the AN1x, with the filter fully
closed, you can still hear the oscillators, as if a filter-bypassed
signal is being mixed at extremely low volume with the amp output.
And the effects suck. The delay time changes too quickly to make very
fine adjustments, etc. The reason I photoshopped that synth is
because I'm trying to design the perfect synth at a reasonable price
point. And I've gone thru so many synths that I know what sucks about
most of them, and how to avoid it in a future offering.
