DX200 is built around the PLG150DX board, which is a DX-7 on a card.
Plugs into cs6x,S80,s90,etc. I have AN+DX boards in my S80. I use the
AN board much more than DX, but if you need a bizarre growling
metallic pad sound,or any other manner of weird metallic noises, FM
is the only way to do it. Does good bells, chimes, FM basses also.
You need to be either brain-damaged or a total genius to program a DX-
7 though :)

gotch...

If I do get the AN200, I think I will leave it in it's case. At this time I don't see an advantage of pulling the card out and placing it into the s-80. Nice to know that if the interface gets messed up, it can be removed and used in the s-80.

I did secure a DX200 tonight. I am going to do the same with it as well. Use it in it's original interface.

Now I will use either the s-80, p-60 or TE to feed it midi.. ;-)

Off on a treasure hunt now to find some inf files for Sonar for them.

but there is huge folder of patches converted to dx200 format. Dx200
editor is different than plg150dx editor, which only accepts original
dx cartridge files. Don't expect much from dx patches; there are some
real gems but you have to sort thru a lot of crap to find them...

yep on the patches... some are gems others need some work.. ;-)
I would imagine they fit like most other patches you find..
I secured the AN200 too.
I found some inf files in the dx200 group that should work with Sonar too. Otherwise I will have to dig in and tweak.. Some third party editors sometimes have the option to make cubase and cakewalk type files out of the patches (esp. when you rename them).

I read some of the back posts on the units. Seems if you remove the cards inside, they still function as midi controls and sequencers. If I was still experimenting, I think I would first fix the first note problem then develop a add on card to alter the synth at will. Maybe some hybrid similar to the Chameleon I have. Ah but that is if I had the time to toy with it...

Hi Dale,

Congrats on picking up the new boxes. The links on XGFactory for the
PLG cards seem to be mostly 404 :-/ Try this instead:

http://www.yamahasynth.com/download/plg_series.html

Also, there are some Cakewalk files in the Files section here at
Yahoo! Groups which you could probably mod to your needs:

Thanks Jon
It will be a few days before I see it. Just in time for a few days off at the day job to spend time getting familiar with it.
