just takes a while to find what you're looking
for.

the bottom left of open screen, it says "files of type:". Click on
the small down arrow to right and choose "XGworks AN PLG files
(*.ans)" from the drop-down list. You should then be able to find the
file, enter it in file name and open it in an1x editor. I'm not sure
if all versions of an1x editor support .ans format, but the one I use
does.

AN1X/PLG150AN Editor By Gary Gregson

Ignore previous message; Gary Gregson's revised editor is right
here in files section, in "windows files and utilities." Supports
both an1x and plg150an .
(.an1,.ans)

You'll find the Files section for AN1x-list here:

http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/AN1x-list/files

.an1 is the most widely compatible version to use when sharing AN Voices, .ans has no
real benefit to anybody using not using XG Works, if I recall correctly, and doesn't transfer
well cross platform.
