cutting edge synths

Glad to see other people have trouble checking out new synths as well. Still, new gear isn't always better, and lsitening to an instrument in a showroom doesn't really give you a clear picture of what a synth sounds like live. I used the AN1X last night at a wedding gig. Take a lead sound, turn off the reverb and echo, if necessary put on the aural exciter and I could cut through three guitarist a loud drummer and a bass. Also, in a live setting, the AN1X sounds analog-it may not sound exactly like any specific synth but it has that sound. The Vintage Keys module, which sounds awful soloed(god bless those 14 bit samples), sounds great live. I can play one finger leads on the electric piano setting and hear every note. Cuts right through. Still, I want a dual manual keyboard with the equivalent of the Auturia Moog modular, Giga Sampler, B4, and Reason built in-oh yeah, with 40 gigabytes of samples, drawbars, and a ribbon controller.
