Set up AN1X for microtuning?

Set up AN1X for microtuning?

2003-07-02 by polharris

Any way to do this in sysex or AN1XEdit? I can set up my XG equipment
with an actual scale chart in XGWorks, trying to see if I can do JI5
on the AN1x.

Anybody know?

Thanks, Pablo

Don't believe so, no.

Does XGWorks actually load a microtuning table into your XG devices or is simply
remapping MIDI Notes to the alternate tunings output from the XGWorks sequencer?

What XGWorks has is a scale table for each Channel voice. So, you can
adjust the scale (each of the twelve western tones from C to B) in
cents to match JI5. Match, within 1 cent at least... Then, when you
play Midi-in with a keyboard, you will be able to play the scale
realtime. I use this to set up an MU128 for realtime JI5.

I'm just wonderring if the AN1X had some type of back door XG-type of
adjustment you could do...

Also, I'm wonderring if I buy a PLG150-AN for my Motif, will the
Motif tuning menu also control the tuning of the PLG?

The AN1x is not an 'XG Compatible' device from the standpoint that
the soundset complies with the XG standard. Furthermore, it does not
offer the built in microtuning tables that are found on many other
instruments. However, your description of the Scale Table in XGWorks
is much as I expected - I don't see why it couldn't be applied to a
non-XG instrument as readily as a XG module. Perhpas I've
misunderstood...I know Cubase offers a similar function and there was
a related discussion on the Logic Users list some months ago -
although I've not made use of this in either program.

I don't know the answer but would suggest you check the forums at
www.motifator.com
