Midi Program Change Messages

2003-01-05 by robroth1

Hi, I'm using an AN1X in my stage rig slaved to a Yamaha DJX drum machine . The two units run in sync when I use the AN1X arpeggiator but I want the AN1X to ignore Midi Program Change commands sent by the DJX. Either turning off the DJX's program change send or the AN1X's program change recieve would do it. Is there a way to do this? Thanks!

I purchased the DX200 and the AN200... I use them as sound modules in my
studio to cover what my sample playback keyboard doesn't have (true
synthesis). I subscribe for the general reasons... product gossip, patches.
  hints and helps...

There's no direct way to turn off Program Change reception in the AN1x. Your easiest -- and cheapest -- alternative would be to use the capabilities in the DJX, assuming that it has any.

If you use a PC/Mac on stage, there are some software products that can provide filtering. (I think one of them is MIDI Ox, but I'm not sure. I'm not very familiar with them though; perhaps someone else on the list can help you.

Finally, there are hardware boxes that provide filtering capabilities. I won't bother the list with a sales pitch for the ones I sell, but if you're interested, contact me offline for details.

Regards,

-BW
