How Do I Do this??

How Do I Do this??

2002-11-03 by DJGaryB

I'm fairly new to midi and I am having a hell of a time trying to
figure this out.

How do I get my mpc 2000 to change the sounds in the AN1X as it goes
from 1 sequence to the next.

I have tried to get this to work but so far I have had no luck in
figuring this out.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I have an MPC2000XL, I hope the features are the same.

Okay, let's assume you have the MPC's MIDI "A" output going into the AN1x's
MIDI IN.
The AN1x is on the MPC sequencer's track #7. It is playing a sound called "
012 Moog Bass "
And let's assume the AN1x 's MIDI in channel is set to channel "4".

1. On your sequencer screen, it should say this:

Tr:07 - An1x Bass <or whatever you want to input in this line>
S: MIDI : 4A - Device04

2. Rewind to the beginning of your sequence and click on "STEP" (F1) under
the screen.
It will read, "View: ALL EVENTS" at the top of the screen.

3. Click on INSERT (F4)

4. Choose the type to: PROGRAM CHANGE

5. Click "DO IT"

6. Where it says, PROGRAM CHANGE: Enter the value of your desired An1x
patch number MINUS ONE. So if it's "012 Moog Bass," you enter "11."
(that's just the way the MIDI program change numbers are standardized, 0-127).

7. Click on MAIN SCREEN.

Then manually change to the next sequence, and repeat from step
1. Substitute a different patch number in step 6.

Be warned, if your AN1x note begins from the first beat of the measure of
the next sequence, you might have to insert your program change towards the
end of the sequence, if you're not looping it.
