AN1x Edit Tutorial??

AN1x Edit Tutorial??

2002-10-03 by d_zelazo

Hey AN1x users...

I finally found a usb-midi connector so now I am ready to use AN1x
Edit software! only problem is I don't know how...

I figured out how to set up all the hardware, and it is working
fine...but all the buttons/controls/knobs/etc... are a bit
overwhelming...oh yah, I am a completely novice user at all of this...
(first time!)

so, I was wondering if there are any good step-by-step tutorials for
this beast...couldn't find any in the yahoo group, so thought I would
ask...

thanks!

dan

Hi Dan,

Go here:
http://www.intermusic.com/defaultfeaturearchive.asp?FeatureType=TUT

And from the long list of tutorials, have a read through:

- Analogue Synthesis (part I)
- Analogue Synthesis (part II)
- Synth Programming (pt I)
- Synth Programming (pt II)
- Synth Programming (pt III)
- Synth Programming (pt IV)
- Synth Programming (pt V)

Also, don't overlook the operator's manual for some basic guide to creating
sounds.

Hope you find the above useful.

Phil

thanks for the tips!

those are some nice tutorials...but I knew alot of the basic
principles already (its part of my job...)...I was hoping for a more
specific toolbox for AN1xEdit...using its layout,etc...

and you were right about the USB midi problems...I tried loading some
an1 files into the synth, and it can't get past #38 for some
reason...but that could also be because I don't fully know what I am
doing yet...

thanks again...

dan

There is an overview (Readme file) of system requirements, etc.
for AN1xEdit included with the download along with some
example banks of AN1x Voices in .an1 format. In addition, there
is an indexed AN1xEdit Help file available from within the
program. Please feel free to post back to the list with specific
issues if you get hung up on something :-)

There has been much, thorough discussion regarding USB MIDI
Interfaces in use with AN1xEdit on both Mac and Win. It is
particularly problematic on the Mac platform using OMS. If you
are interested in the details I would recommend you search the
list archives where you will find posts specific to USB Bandwidth
vs. Error Checking vs. the size of the SysEx packets used by the
AN1x vs. different brands of USB capable MIDI Interfaces. Be
aware the SysEx dump files for the AN1x are unusually large in
size compared to many other synths, i.e., not very efficient.

Welcome to the list.

regards,

Jon
