what are the differnet rom versions of the AN1x, how can you tell what rom

Identifying the OS ROM version of your AN1x

Peter Korsten, an avid and knowledgeable user of Yamaha instruments, was
good enough to pass on the following procedure to determine the OS ROM
version of your AN1x.

Keep the '0', '-', and '+' buttons pressed while you power on the AN1x.
After the little animation (you *still* have to keep those buttons pressed)
it will display the OS version and then go into Test Mode.
Test mode is pretty funny, BTW. Test *all* of your keys, knobs, buttons,
controllers and lights.
Word has it that v1.03 of the OS exists but no one seems quite certain what
'bugs' this revision corrects?! As far as anyone knows, v1.03 doesn't offer
any new functionality that has been published. My AN1x has v1.02 and I've
yet to identify any errors with the OS under typical operating conditions.
If anyone - anywhere - has any insight as to what benefits v1.03 provides
please let me know.

ok so after you have it in test mode, I'm asuming all the lights go on, and
when you turn a knob/press a button the LCD will respond with something? I
need to know soon here cause I'm going to go pickup an AN1x today that's
used.

Thank you very much for your kind words, but I'm not that knowledgeable, I
just have a big mouth. :-)

But it's true, the differences between the OS versions are so minute that
it's not worth the trouble to upgrade.

Well, you were so helpful I had to pump up your ego somewhat ;-)

I can't tell you how weird it is seeing my own site quoted in an email
written by someone else. How very cool - it's nice to see it being used
as intended!

Aside from note event timing I can't think of obvious bug in operating
the AN1x OS so I have to agree with Peter.
