re: step sequencer

Layer the AN1X with some other sound source. I use an EMU module and set up a patch with four layers. There's only one note at a time so polyphony isn't an issue. I set the note range of the layers really small so the EMU isn't playing every beat, and when it does play there's different sounds. Then set up the AN1X so there's some fairly drastic key tracking for several parameters. This makes each note sound a little different. Go crazy with the free eg. I like setting the sequencer on 12th notes whatever those are. With 15 or 16 steps on twelfths there's a crazy rhythmn going. Set the two scenes to morph with the mod wheel. Then set up the trigger mode so that you can trigger a different sequence on every key. Then put in a tempo echo and set the ribbon controller to filter cutoff. That way you can just tap the ribbon controller and get a cascade of echos as the sound gets filtered out. I can spend hours playing with this. It usually doesn't produce commercially viable works of art. Rainbow Jimmy http://www.spaceanimals.com http://www.mp3.com/spaceanimals
