The Yamaha AN1x Synthesizer mailing list

Hi list,

I'm fairly new to the AN1x.. I've had mine about a month now and am
still learning my way around it. Let me also say this is my first VA
synth, so I'm still new to the world of "analog" synths in general.

For those of you using the AN1x for dance music, what are you using for
bass lines? I've been able to get killer leads, strings, and pads out of
the synth, but so far no real bass line I've been happy with. I've been
using Fruity Loops on the PC for drum tracks and it does a good job. It
transmits MIDI sync to the arp on the AN1x, which sounds excellent. All I
need is a good bassline to round it out. Any suggestions of either
software or hardware? Or does anyone have good bassline patches/ideas for
the an1x?

Shayne,

The An1x is capable of good bass- (all the parameters for that are right
there- resonance, PWM, etc..).
(*I just use it for pads n things though- cause is has a rich texture.)
- Like electronic bass?- turn on the Ring modulator & set the 2 oscs. apart
in pitch by a 7th or so.

what kind of music are you writing?
I happen to be an everyday junglist and love the Bass
I get out of this thing. But I tend to gravitate
towards harsh grinding bass or "so deep you mess your
pants" pure sine wave type bass.
