I don't understand what you are trying to say?- I did know this already- what
are you trying to get at?

I think he is merely surprised at the number of parameters that
can be automated on the AN1x and maybe had not yet used the
Step Sequencer for this purpose.

Hello Tom

What I´m trying to get is that:
first in the seq/edit setup I set some cc value changes
then I go control matrix to set vco1 oscillator pitch to respond directly t=
o those changes.

I have always thought this wasn´t possible. Looking at the control matrix l=
ist(p10 in data list)I get the impression that you can only get vcopitch res=
pond to keytrack(correct me if I´m wrong - I am not an expert). And things s=
tart blinking on the screen too...
This thing is just something that I don´t understand and I want to know if =
your machine does the same.

I don´t know if I´m just reading the table wrong or something
or has this something to do with old OS. I bought my an1x in 97.

Erkki,

No, that's EXACTLY right!- ALL sequencers in all synths (apart from ones
which are bollocks hehehehe!) sequence note data- that's pretty much the
reason why they are there in the first place! In fact it's not just note
data, but every kind of parameter it's been programmed to respond to. Synths
like the Korg MS2000 only have a very few modulation possibilities- the AN1x
on the other hand is bursting with them- which (un)fortunately also makes it
very powerful and therefore very complicated!-

The reason your menu is blinking is usually because it's expecting you to
save something- unless you have the wrong power supply in the back- having
the wrong voltage can sometimes make electronic components fail- so check
that as well.

>(correct me if I´m wrong - I am not an expert).

Don't frett-I'm not that much of an expert either- all those functions on one
knob initially confused the hell out of me, and subsequently only really
started getting into programming it about a year ago. If your programming the
sequencer, you'll already infront of me hahahahaha!- Actually my main synth
(sorry guys and gals) is my Clavia Nord Modular- it can do everything the AN
can do ,but better- Although the AN has better and possibly the most
haunting sound of the two!

good luck!

Well..I´m not sure we are talking about the same thing, Tom.

The point that i was trying to make was:

I look at this Control Matrix List (data list p10)
To me it seems that pitch or fine pitch of either oscillator
cannot be controlled by CC´s or AT or Vel or KeyRnd only by KeyTrk.
See, all those x´s instead of O´s.Itdoesn´t say anyhere on that list
what x´s mean, but from what i´ve learned it should mean NO WAY :( )

Now I set the step sequencer to play all those notes and thats all
very cool (actually nothing here is totally uncool).
Since there is this great option to do some control number tweaking
on every step I do just that.

PEG decay changes sound just fine on their own, but I also "patch"
it to the pitch of VCO1. This may be nuts but I don´t know :)
Well...the letters and numbers start blinking (and no I´m not trying
to save anything - it actually blinks differently)

I can still here that the settings I make affect the sound drastically.

I´m not complaining at all.
Just don´t know what I should make of all those x´s on data list
and that crazy blinking.

If you - if any one of you - would try to make the settings I described abo=
ve and then share your views. that would help greatly.
At least me if not anyone else.

You are correct. The 'x' and 'o' in the CC AT Column references
the Data Range Column for the Ctrl Matrix: Source parameter. In
other words, you cannot set a Depth setting of (-64) - (+63) for
VCOx Pitch or VCOx Fine (but oddly enough the Direct settings
works?!) As you've pointed out, the same applies for Vel KeyRnd
but not KeyTrk. Make sense?

Cool idea - using MIDI CC #027 for PEG Decay, right?

Why would that be nuts? That's what it's there for ! :-)

FWIW - the same can be accomplished using the FreeEG. Look
at the chart on p/ 10 again - see the last column Free EG: Trk
Param - you could record knob movements for ANY of those
parameters on a Free EG track.

Never figured out a pattern to the blinking lights - I'd assumed it
had something to do with the internal clock but....

Yes Jon- state the obvious! (and five days later! hehehehe)

syncronizing editor w/ plg150-an

2002-03-29 by R e i d | O d a

i know that it's possible to syncronize the display in gary gregson's
editor to the settings in the plg150. i'd like to edit the patches
already in the synth, but when i make changes and save the patch in the
editor, it doesn't save all the parameters correctly.

if there isn't a way to synchronize the two, what is the general method
for getting the two on the same page?

thanks!

Hi Reid,

An1xEdit certainly saves all the parameters correctly to the library. So
its not clear what your problem actually is.

Note if you expect An1xEdit to save the parameters into the PLG150AN
preset memory, then this is impossible. The presets of the card are
stored in read only memory (ROM) and thus cannot be changed. When you
are editing them you are doing so in the cards edit buffer. However this
data is lost as soon as you select another voice/

You can however download the voice stored in the An1xEdit library,
either back to the edit buffer, or to one of the card User bank memories
(Note that user memories will be lost only when the card is powered
off).

i really appreciate the reply. let me clarify my vague statement.

what i mean is, say i'm editing program #15 in the plg150. when i pull up
the editor, all of the knobs and sliders are in the their default
position, not reflecting the settings of the plg150. as i change values
in the editor, only the settings i have changed are reflected in
the editor. when i save the sound and try to recall it later, it will be
incomplete.

what i would like to know is:

1. is there a bank for the editor which has all the stock plg sounds in
it?

2. is is possible to sysex the settings data down to the editor as i
choose each patch?

Yes, An1xEdit ships with some example banks; two of which are the Preset
defaults from the PLG150AN, the other is the factory presets from the
AN1x.

There is not way to perform a bulk sysex request from the PLG150AN card
;-(
