Can anyone recommend a reliable, inexpensive hardware sequencer that can play
back patch changes and MIDI sysex? I'm so afraid of Windows live. Presently we
use Cakewalk and a laptop to change all synth patches for the next song.

You could try an inexpensive, 2d hand Alesis MMT-8 but, it has
limited memory capacity so large SysEx dumps may not
worthwhile and I don't think it deals with MSB/LSB for Bank
change commands :-(
Doesn't Yamaha make a SysExdata filer - an MDF-xx
somethingorother?
