Hi Joel,
Does the TR-707 have a bulk dump feature? I have vague recollections of
a friends TR-727 but not the TR-707. I would suggest one of the
following depending on your objective:

1) Synchronize your TR-707 to a MIDI Software Sequencer; set the sw seq
to record; Playback your patterns from the TR-707 and record them into
your sw seq - one at a time if necessary - in real time. The old TR
series doesn't have any kind of SMF compatibility that I recall.

2) If your TR will perform bulk dumps - you could back them up to your
computer using a generic SysEx utility such as the one Gary mentioned
this past week - MIDI-OX http://www.midiox.com/

This is a Win utility but there are similar apps for Mac too: http://www.harmony-central.com/Software/Mac/midi.html

3) Try to perform a bulk dump from the TR-707 to your sw seq. Most
modern sw sequencers allow you to record SysEx data in single pass but
they are not all equal to the task. I have better luck with SysEx under
VisionDSP then Cubase VST for example.

Hope one of these idea's works for you.

Regards,
Jon
