frustrated beginners - voice volume concerns

hello, we are currently trying out an AN1X and have found that the volume on the preset E.Piano voice is much lower than the other voices. have made several adjustments to no avail. is this improper setup or could we have a lemon m/c. how could we set-up piano from scratch to see if volume would improve ? Helllllllp!!!!
