Someone tells that An200 sounds better than An1x, it got a new wave algorithm (multi saw) and maybe Yamaha made a little upgrade at the the oscillators. An200 is only 1 part multitibral and has 5 voices of polyphony, but it seems to be a very good choice! What's your opinion?

ciao carissimo io l'an200 l'ho provato a rimini mentre l'an1x ce l'ho a casa,ma mi sembra molto piu' versatile l'an200 penso infatti che lo prender\ufffd presto. ciao vecchio. _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com.

This was to explain why some Voices will differ between the two units. Since the sound engine for the AN200/PLG150AN is derived from that of the AN1x they should, in theory, sound identical. In practice, there may be audible differences between individual Voices created on one unit and played back on the other. This results from the differences between the Oscillators, polyphony, and effects processing. Which sounds 'better' is entirely subjective. IMO, which features suit your requirements (table top module vs. keyboard) is the more substantial question. I've only played an AN200 briefly on two occasions. IMO, the differences are so nuanced I hardly think they'd be noticeable in the greater context of a composition. In other words, the audience isn't going to be able to tell the difference. Personally, I didn't care for the drum sounds on the AN200. Here are some links to mull over if you're interested in disecting the feature sets: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/AN1x- list/files/Documentation/plg150_an_specs.htm http://groups.yahoo.com/group/AN1x- list/files/Documentation/an1x_specs.htm regards, Jon

Thanx a lot for all this precious suggestion about the An200!!! Just another question: Is it possible to use the An1x editor on the An200 or it has another editor who don't accepts the An1x voices? Andrea

The engine inside AN200 is simply the PLG150AN card. Hence An1xEdit works fine with the AN200, since it fully supports the PLG card. However AN1xEdit does not cater for the drum tracks of the AN200. Note the AN200 is supplied with a modified version of the PLG150AN editor for Yamahas XGworks. I believe this editor does also cater for the drum parts. Either way you will be able to use AN1xEdit files. Regards Gary Gregson Email:gary@... http://www.yme.co.uk/yme

Hi Andrea, You can use AN1x editor with AN200 but with one disadvantage, you're not able to receive patches from AN200 to AN1x edit but other than that it works just fine. But then ... you come with AN200 editor and IMO it's the best patch editor I've ever used because it's so clear to understand, the overlay of functions is so great. You can load AN1x banks with it to AN200 so you're able to get advantage of all existing AN1x voices. Cheers, TimoS ----- Original Message -----

TimoS wrote >> You can use AN1x editor with AN200 but with one disadvantage, you're not able to receive patches from AN200 to AN1x edit but other than that it works just fine. << Yes...I am afraid the PLG150AN card (which is the heart of the AN200) does not support bulk requests. So you can't request patch dumps via AN1xEdit when using the AN200 (or PLG150AN for that matter) >> But then ... you come with AN200 editor and IMO it's the best patch editor I've ever used because it's so clear to understand, the overlay of functions is so great. You can load AN1x banks with it to AN200 so you're able to get advantage of all existing AN1x voices << The AN200/XGworks PLGAN editor is actually constructed from AN1xEdit source code. However there is a change in how Yamaah implemented patch download for auditioning.... An1xEdit basically downloads each audition patch to the AN edit buffer so you can edit and experiment. If you actually want to store the patch to the device user bank, you have save back to the library and then do a bulk send. However, the XGworks editor always downloads the patch data to the user bank and then sends a program cahnge to select the data into the edit buffer. This is not a big deal...but something you should be aware of. I effectively means the XGworks editor is actually overwriting your user bank on the device as you audition voices....which may (or may not) be what you inteded! Yes, it took me some time to realize what's going on there :-) ... but as I need to continue to praise it more, I think that the AN200 editor software is so fun and easy to use (and I'm talking about synth track editing here) that it only left me thinking why did not yamaha made AN1x rack with those controls as hardware knobs ;-) Cheers, TimoS

Well, if it´s for free, the Yamaha branch in your country should always help you further with it then. Just give them a buzz or write a letter and ask nicely for the AN200-CD. Cheers, Tom --- In AN1x-list@y..., "mr. fish" <srcodling@y...> wrote:

I'm new to this list so first of all Hi everybody! I just bought a AN200 desktopo synth and I have the XGworks software which came bundled. I installed it under WinXP , but the app crashes on startup. "Cannot find entry point for...." Anyone is using this app under XP. I bought the AN200 partly for this software and for the ability to program the voices and patterns... It's a pain i cannot use it under XP

Is there a Mac version of it on your disc? Wouldn't mind seeing if it will work with an AN1X. Think you can upload it to the files section? there is a MAC version on the CD, but I'm on a PC and i cannot read it. In addictin, I think this is not FREE softwar, so we shouldn't put it in the files section. mail me if you know how to read MAC files... bye --- In AN1x-list@y..., "gndjm23964" <gnmorgan@b...> wrote:

The current version of XGworks is not XP compatible. However an XP version will be released shortly. In the meantime, you can use AN1xEdit in PLG150AN mode to edit voices on the AN200. Regards Gary Gregson Email:gary@... http://www.yme.co.uk/yme

If the Mac file appears as an icon when you put the disc in your drive then you could attach it to an Email and mail it to me direct to evaluate?! If you want to it's... gnmorgan(at)btinternet.com Just curious to see if it does work. It should do as the two are basically the same, and the AN200 version has a much neater/less 'cluttered' interface. regards, Gary. --- In AN1x-list@y..., "antoniograz" <autodafe@t...> wrote: > there is a MAC version on the CD, but I'm on a PC and i cannot read > it.
