Welcome to new list members

2000-04-30 by jondl

Hello and a big welcome to all you new list members! In the past month
our membership has more than doubled (we're over 80 strong now) and the
amount of correspondence has quadrupled. Hopefully the supply of new
Voices will parallel this happy trend ;-)

Don't hesitate to start a new thread or ask questions. We're all here
to help one another. All the necessary AN1x documentation, utilities
and applications - along with plenty of user voices - are available in
the Files section. If you're looking for the collected voices from the
old Teklab mailing list they are now available from my AN1x page.

There are a couple of Polls which remain open. Get your vote in - if
you're inclined to do so - so your fellow AN1x'ers can learn something
about their peers!

Regards,
Jon

p.s. - Joel, what's the theme for the May monthly voice swap?

Imminently amongst

2000-05-01 by nick ring

Hi all,

I'm in the midst of the transaction for buying my an1x ($400 off Harmony
Central, if you're interested). I've wanted one for quite a while because
I dig that analogue sound (this'll be close enough for me, I imagine), I
want a decent controller synth (been using my esq-1: no knobs!), and the
price:performance ratio seemed pretty damn good!
My other main instrument is the Ensoniq ASR-X black box. I have a small
but decent home studio which has grown over the years (began making music 5
years ago). Centered primarily around my tascam 424mkII 4track, but moving
into the computer world.
My musical direction tends to be live looping improv using a few digitech
8 and 2 second delays plus effects. I'm starting to get into more
structured sequenced stuff, but I like the immediacy and surprises of the
live improv.
I've started a web site for my music (learning as I go), but you're
welcome to check it out at:

I also highly recommend Jon's site (address in all his emails)..useful for
both the asr-x and the an1x.

While this post is a bit gear oriented, I don't think what you have is
nearly so important as your creativity and enthusiasm. Gear is only
expression-aiding tools...what you can do with a couple of sticks or even a
blade of grass!
