Does anyone in this mailing list produce music in those styles? I`m interested in exchanging informations, sounds ...

We do some trance, mainly for TV so its usually a 30 second spot... Our trance sounds come from either the Juno106, Korg MS2000, Korg Prophecy, or Roland JP8080. One of the biggest tricks we've found to good goa sounds is using triplet delays on one sound and a 1/4 delay on another... it gives a really thick bed of arpegiation. Also listening to paul oakenfolds bootleg stuff (Live at Home in London) gave lots of inspiration. Leads mainly, its too raw and sassy to waste on layered line. If you ever watch cartoon network, the lead sounds in the commercials for powerpuff girls is our An1x. Also checkout Boomerang, the lead line with the stop frame animation and a weird looking robotic camera, again our An1x. If you look on our site under studio and hear and demo CD you'll find some stuff you may recognise, we'll be posting more stuff soon. A lot of the An1x sounds we use are actuall stock sounds that we've tweaked, I spend most of my programming time on the MS2000R and the Prophecy... I'm laughing because I just realized that I had a conversation with you once before on a completely different list -- Flasher-L. You mentioned doing music for the Powerpuff Girls, and I thought you meant you were in the group Bis. Small world, this internet can be... I will keep a lookout for those AN1x-enabled commercials! -- jp

I'm pretty sure there are strong EBM influence in my songs, especially my oldest ones (mp3 link below). Things like big solos and basses. Now I LOVE the AN1x for wicked, unstable, depressed solos. With modulated Sync+FM+a bit of noise you can get WEIRD atmospheres. You can find an old bank of mine (with still many of the presets) in the Capharna\ufffdm folder on the list's files. Not many tricks apart from some sequencing habits. Maybe you have questions ? -- Dax - d.rave@... http://www.capharnaum.cjb.net http://www.mp3.com/thecapharnaum thurisaz66@... a dit :

I am afraid, I don't understand what you mean by saying "triplet delays" and "1/4 delay on another". If possible, would you plz be more specific about this "trick"? Thank you... Kind Regards, Mert

Sending one patch through a delay that is synchronized to your bpm, but is on the triplet note instead of half or quater, then turn up the feedback a bit... you'll get a very rich sound, for a quick demo checkout re-births delay it has a triplet setting as its a real GOA trick... One well known tip to turn weak kicks into speaker trashers : play a very low sine or square sound at each beat. Of course you may experiment a bit. I found it nice with an acid bass too. And then, if your mix is still a bit thin, the kick-bass-kick-bass (bass on 1/2 beat) technique helps filling the lower end. -- Dax - d.rave@... http://www.capharnaum.cjb.net http://www.mp3.com/thecapharnaum

> Does anyone in this mailing list produce music in those styles? > I`m interested in exchanging informations, sounds ... I use the AN1x on all the Martyr Complex stuff (http://www.mp3.com/martyrcomplex/) as well as on the etherclinic stuff (http://www.mp3.com/etherclinic/). etherclinic is more darkwave\goth but Martyr Complex is very aggroindustrial\ebm. As far as sounds, I use a lot of the standard banks that are out there, just throw some effects on them for recording and what not. I just picked up an Electrix WarpFactory vocoder this weekend, will play around with that and see how well it works on the AN1x sounds. It sounds amazing running my 303 Groovebox through it, so I'm anxious to start morphing and see what comes of it... Aaron
