i still haven't changed anything yet because there is a list of thing's i got to do before i do anything. my computer seem's to have quite a few problems and before i attempt to touch it i am organizing it. i am going through all my files and putting everything in order. i am also making backups of my stuff just incase i do something wrong. i also have a problem with my ram. i have 256mb and when i try to install another 128 MB my computer gives me a message that i don't have enough memory to run the current application. when the organization of my files is complete i will take my computer to the place where i bought it because the guy said he would fix it for me because it is still under waranty. he said that the reason the computer does not accept the ram might have to do with windows and he might have to re-install it. i've also had my icons mis-matched, for example- my wave files have the icon for the internet dialer? weird. when i take my computer in he's gonna fix the ram and i am going to let him read the e-mails with the solutions you and others kindly sent me. i am going to let him follow the instruction you gave me because i am not to good at this stuff. they should fix it for free because when he installed my stuff he should have known about the problems with the IRQ's. i can't blame them for not knowing everything. your help will put me on the right track once i get all my files sorted out. i thank you and the others for taking their time to help a stranger! there's people that i have known for years that would never help me as much as you guy's did!! I am going to tell my computer guy to fix my computer exactly the way you described it should be done.. once again, thanks!!! your help will not be forgotten. if i ever make it i won't forget those who helped me!! good help never get's forgotten!!!! can't stress the thanks,, elektro dan. --- Reggie <reggie@...> wrote: > In article <9c7b9a+aaps@...>, i don't have > one! > <elektro_dan@...> writes > >cubase vst 5.0 r4 is out now. > > > >ftp://ftp.steinberg.net/download/pc/Cubase_VST/Cubase50x/50r4/ > > > >big thanks to all for giving me info on my IRQ > problems. > > > How did you sort it out in the end? Odd things happen from time to time, but you can sort it out using tweakui (You'll find it at the microsoft site) look for the 'repair' tab. > when i take my computer in he's gonna fix the ram and >i am going to let him read the e-mails with the >solutions you and others kindly sent me. i am going to >let him follow the instruction you gave me because i >am not to good at this stuff. they should fix it for >free because when he installed my stuff he should have >known about the problems with the IRQ's. >i can't blame them for not knowing everything. > >your help will put me on the right track once i get >all my files sorted out. i thank you and the others >for taking their time to help a stranger! there's >people that i have known for years that would never >help me as much as you guy's did!! > >I am going to tell my computer guy to fix my computer >exactly the way you described it should be done.. > >once again, thanks!!! your help will not be forgotten. >if i ever make it i won't forget those who helped me!! >good help never get's forgotten!!!! > >can't stress the thanks,, No problem, I expect that you will do the same for someone one day! > >elektro dan. > > >--- Reggie <reggie@...> wrote: >> In article <9c7b9a+aaps@...>, i don't have >> one! >> <elektro_dan@...> writes >> >cubase vst 5.0 r4 is out now. >> > >> >>ftp://ftp.steinberg.net/download/pc/Cubase_VST/Cubase50x/50r4/ >> > >> >big thanks to all for giving me info on my IRQ >> problems. >> > >> How did you sort it out in the end? e_d, >i also have a problem with my ram. i have 256mb and >when i try to install another 128 MB my computer gives >me a message that i don't have enough memory to run >the current application...the guy said he would fix it >for me because it is still under waranty. he said that the >reason the computer does not accept the ram might have >to do with windows and he might have to re-install it. This explanation is invalid, IMHO. I've never heard of Windows software preventing the installation of hardware. A more likely issue is that the 128 MB DIMM that you are installing is incompatible with the memory already in your system; i.e., a hardware issue. If you check the memory "installed" when the 128 MB is added, I'll bet your computer thinks it's less than 256MB -- probably, a lot less. >i've also had my icons mis-matched, for example- my >wave files have the icon for the internet dialer? >weird. This is not all that serious; your icon cache -- a method Windows uses to save time when accessing icons -- has been corrupted. This happens to me about once every 2-4 months. I use a shareware program called Microangelo Engineer that can rebuild the icon cache. There may be others out there that do the same thing. I remember a few years ago when me and my mates were all trying to stich each other up with netspehre and back orifice and all those other trojans... sometimes icons would mysteriously start going weird... u might want to run a virus check just to be sure... tom

i've got norton systemworks 2001 and i run a virus check every week and i always do my best to keep my system in optimal preformance. norton hasn't detected a virus as of yet which makes me wonder if it really works? thanks for the reply, elektro dan. --- Tom <tom@...> wrote: > > > > >i've also had my icons mis-matched, for example- > my > > >wave files have the icon for the internet dialer? > > >weird. > > I remember a few years ago when me and my mates were > all trying to stich > each other up with netspehre and back orifice and > all those other trojans... > sometimes icons would mysteriously start going > weird... u might want to run > a virus check just to be sure... > > tom > > __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
