ROM OS1.04

ROM OS1.04

2001-04-06 by lz303@yahoo.com

Hi!

Today the ROM V1.04 arrived. After i replaced the old ROM with the
new one nothing happens. You just have to replace the chip, nothing
more, right? I am sure that i inserted the chip in the right
direction. I had the same problem with my DVD player. But there you
had to replace resistors, also. After fixing a connection from one
resistor to another everything worked fine. I think that the chip is
out of order. I will send it back to yamaha and want another one. I
just wanted to know, if you just have to replace the chip or if i
have to do something more?

Do you have problems with your AN-1x or do you say that you just don't see
any changes in the unit after OS change ?
Ray.

...and to piggyback on Ray's good question: did you hold down the '0',
'-', and '+' when powering on the unit? The AN1x should display the OS
level when you use this key command at start-up.

Also, have you tried to reinstall the original EPROM chip (I'm assuming
OS V1.02.) Does the unit reboot as normal?

no i dont have problems with the AN1X. After you power up the AN1X
with the new Eprom V1.04 nothing happens, nothing! No messages in the
display. You just see the display light but no messages. The new OS
doesnt start.

Yes, i tried that also. But as i said with no result. Fortunately,
when i put back the old OS V1.03 everythings ok. So i just think that
tthe Eprom is damaged. OK i send it back to Yamaha. Lets see. I´ll
tell you what happened. Thanks

Dear List,

My AN1x has OS v1.02.
I am happy with it. No problems at all...

I wonder about the benefits of v1.04.
What's new with it?

By the way, I have asked the same question to the distributor here in Turkey,
and he said: "What? An OS update? Well, that was looong ago. No more chips.
Sorry! And for the benefits, I really haven't noticed anything remarkable
since I've updated mine!"

Is this a TRUE confession,
or is it because that his ears are not so genuine? ;-)

Best Regards,
Mert

Thank you for the kind reply. After reading the upgrade procedure, I have sent a
message to Yamaha Solution Network. I hope their offer is still valid.
