The AN200 - Phat R than Korg's Electribes

The AN200 - Phat R than Korg's Electribes

2001-04-06 by Darren M Boudreau

Well I happened to receive the newest Guitar Center ads booklet about
their "oh so amazing deals" (lol) and noticed that the AN200 was listed.
I decided to take a trip down to the Sherman Oaks location here in Cali.
But I wondered around for several minutes and didn't see not a one,not
even a box(as there were many boxes of stuff lying around). They're on
their way as one of the ever so busy counter persons told me(damn hard to
get one of them).

So I decided to give Sam Ash a call down in Hollywood. Yep they have 5
and one on display. I loved it. I personally think after having tried the
Korg Electribes(EA1 and ER1) that this baby is much thicker. It
definitely rocks and is pretty much the same as those electribes but both
put together.

Anyway...

Darren

Hey man, where ya live? I'm in Hollywood.
The best music store in town IMHO is West L.A. Music in Universal City,
they're real cool there and a lot of times they'll mark the price so low
it's lower than wheat you' were gonna haggle them for.

I too tried out the AN200 at Guitar Center (they had one on display).
I was not impressed.
Only 5 Voices ??? Pu-Leeease.
The sound parameters were as weak as a TB-303.

In summary- Take an AN1x, remove half the polyphony, take out 85% of the
modulation ability, add nice rubbery knobs and a simple effects section- and
make it go "Bum-tisss-Bum-tisss-Bum-tisss-.." in the demo sequence.
Hell- Why didn't they just add more flashing lights and an
"Beam-control"- the kids would come running...

(I hope the DX module is better- Where is it ????)
