Reggie was right (insert Homer Simpson "DU-OH !!!!!")
It was a Preset Key command Preference- I unclicked it and Viola ! There was
sound from C6 !!!

THANKS REGGIE !!!!

and thanks to Ed too (luckily the Midi problem was not serious enough to
need a sniffer).

It's the old problem- Cubase is SO powerful that it has tons of features
which in turn means it has TONS of MENUS- and that was one menu I had not
ventured into yet.

Lucky I jumped in with both boots on, I'm a PC VST5/32 user and I wasn't
sure which features are the same in both, I assumed that they must have
all of the same features. I wonder if mac users get the same bugs in
VST as pc users? It would be nice to know if you have any bugs in your
mac version of vst for a comparison with the bugs that are in the pc
version.

Bug reports! You want bug reports, huh? ;-)

Check out http://www.cubase.net/ They have a plethora of Win and Mac
forums. Also, there's a good VST-Mac list here at Yahoo!Groups.

I would check there, but it appears to be down still, I did catch the
little note Dave Nicholson posted on the FTP site for the users, to say
that they got hacked big time, amongst other things......

Oh you're kidding, right? They got hacked?!

No, you're not kidding :-( I just checked - for the first time in
weeks. What was this suppose to accomplish? I mean, what type of
message are the hackers trying to send to Steinberg (never mind the
Steinberg user community...) *sigh* Is this some kind of protest
against Steinberg or the Cubase.net product evangelists for a perceived
wrong doing?

Reggie-

Yes there are indeed bugs (at least the PC version has an update to
5.0...no such luck on the Mac).
I'm on an old Beige G3 400- and I'm on the VST-Mac list that Jon (Jondl)
mentioned.- That list just posted the secret to exporting AIFF files from
Cubase 5.0 today (a bug prevents normal export- must have "automation"
checked for it to work).
I own a PC that I use for Web surfing and email- so I'm not a total Mac
snob.
Cubase.net has been down for over 1 week now (What IS the point in
Hacking a Musician friendly website like Cubase.net ?).

Noticed you're in the UK so I won't say Howdy- just Cheers !

Howdy Todd, I don't really see the reason for hacking cubase.net, what
did they expect to achieve?

May be it was a sacked UK vst Tech support guy who lost his job because
newbies on cubase.net knew more than he did? 8) LOL
