found an an1x for sale...

2001-02-28 by jesustwothousand@yahoo.com

"daddy,s junky music" in rochester, new york,
sent a used an1x to its cambridge, massachussets store,
for us upon our request.
-said to be in "excellent condition" the piece was listed at $650.
-needless to say i was very excited take it home.

dude working accidentaly dropped it on the floor while trying to
lean it on the counter after taking it out of the box.
this stupid thing was missing 5 knobs, banged up and
scratched complete with a scraped and blistered ribbon
controller.
they wouldnt go any lower than $487.
we decided to wait and find a nicer one.
if anyone (in the US) is interested the # is
617.497.1556

its ok because we ended grabbing a roland tr-505 there, for
$100.

if you know of an an1x sitting around somwhere collecting dust,
or if someone has one (in good condition) we would like to
purchase it (name a price).
we have a live performance booked for apr. 21 in maine,
and i really want to have one in our arsenal for that date.
thanx!

Ah, another satisfied Daddy's sucker -- er, customer ...

Seriously, though, I don't know who does their ratings. I've dealt with
their Nashua, NH store for years -- exclusively at one point; now, only for
emergencies -- and while they have provided me with some great used buys,
I've learned that their used gear ratings system as of late is a bit
"generous," to say the least. My worst case: I bid on a Peavey guitar amp
in their (now defunct) Rock Auction. The description said, "Brand New amp
with broken handle. Fix the handle, and it's perfect." When I picked the
amp up, in addition to the broken handle, a) it wouldn't make a sound; b)
it had scuffs, tears, and dings all over the Tolex; c) the nameplate had
been removed; and d) the tubes had been replaced (Peavey doesn't ship with
Mesa tubes). Needless to say, I refused to take delivery, and after much
yelling and dropping of the word "fraud" in my conversation, the auction
manager offered to sell me an identical amp, still in the shipping box, for
the dealer invoice cost -- which I accepted. (I saw the invoice, too.)

Caveat emptor ...

-BW

Haven't seen any on eBay or Digibid lately. I know Tom had his up for
