Off topic: 80's drumcompu

2001-02-14 by Lammers, H.W.M.

I've got a question: I'm looking for a cheap (late-)80's drumcomputer. What
kind of machine should I look for? The music I'm making is gothic: something
between electro, (a little bit of) industrial and darkwave. I'm looking for
a machine with midi-support, that is adjustable. The sound I'm looking for
is the tipical old-fashioned lo-fi sound some new wave bands used (and that
the new Belgian band Das Pop uses).

Here are my suggestions for cheesy, late-80's drum machines

Alesis HR16 around $100+/-

Korg DDD5 probably less than $100...I actually owned this one ;-)

Kawai R50 probably less than $100

...or you could just get some samples from http://
machines.hyperreal.org/ or http://tilt.largo.fl.us/samples/samples.html

Good luck!
