OT: MOTU MTP II now working

OT: MOTU MTP II now working

2001-01-28 by Bjørn Standal

Hi listers

Nothing special, just wanted to mention that I finally got my MOTU Timepiece II running with Windows Millenium and Cakewalk. Had problems getting windows to recognize the MTPII, but after I removed another ISA card (probably making conflicts) from my computer, the MTP came up. Thanks to all the guys that helped out. Now, if anyone got the same MIDI interface and have trouble getting it up and running, I'll be happy to oblige any request which may be sent to me.

Regards,

Bjorn Standal

Hey Bjorn.. also check out you don't have a network card. the MOTU driver
messes with the TCP/IP stack on windows and often stops working if you have
a modem or a network card. I ended up selling my timepiece AV due to the
poor support from MOTU and got a Unitor which works great..

Cheers
Grant

Grant - And how is it working for you in Cakewalk (speaking about timing here) ?

Did you check it closely (recording back in audio and seeing time offset) ?
I am currently using Cake , going to move to Logic , but of course will use both
for long time , so I'd like to be able to use both effectively ..
(Though I am pretty sure that timing with Emagic's interface should NOT be worse
than my USB Roland SMPU64)

RE: [AN1x-list] OT: MOTU MTP II now working

2001-01-29 by Grant Davies

We don't use cakewalk for audio, but we do use cakewalk with the Unitor
slaved to protools through SMPTE to lay back tracks to pro tools for mixing,
my business partner does about 8 - 10 hours per day of music composition
with cakewalk and two Unitors running on an old p2b but with a celeron 566
(overclocked to 850) (we have a lot of midi gear) and we produce about two
to three comercials per week for television so I'd say it really gets put
through its paces. Last week we did the superbowl for cartoon network and
the machine did about 70 hours that week. We are using it with windows 98
and the unitors serial interface, as far as I know no-one as yet made a
decent USB driver that gets good timing.

Cheers
Grant
