MOTU midi interface trouble (OT)

MOTU midi interface trouble (OT)

2001-01-17 by Bjørn Standal

Dear listers,

This is slightly off-topic, but thought that we could continue the midi-interface thing a little bit longer. Just wondering:
Has anyone of you guys got the MOTU Midi Timepiece II with 16-bit ISA card interface for Windows (Millenium) from around 1995? I have real trouble getting the MTP-console to talk to the hardware. The windows-driver seems to install correctly, but the console-program says the interface isn't there. Any help welcome. Sorry 'bout this! :-)

Sincerely Yours,

Bjorn Standal,
Norway

I'm guessing that the MOTU driver will not work under ME. I know that the
driver for my midi interface driver won't work under ME. The current version of
the driver for your unit was created 10/17/1997 and is version 1.52. I searched
the MOTU technical database at http://www.motu.com but did not find any
reference to Windows ME.

You may want to email MOTU at: techsupport@...

They should be able to tell you right away.

Hello Sayer

Thanks for your quick answer (you guys impress me :-)). But the previous
owner used Millenium and Cakewalk 9.0 (same as me). Trouble with technical
support at MOTU is that they only accept registered users. Mine being second
(or third?) hand, may not get support. I'll try regardless. Anyway, thanks
again Sayer for your research!

Hello Bjorn, Yeah, I know this card I think, I had to go to London and
install one for my mate on win98se, is the time piece a black box with
6 or 7 midi ins and outs? Windows doesn't recognize the card, you have
manually install it, I only ever got it to work on Irq 5, to get it to
install I had to reinstall windows, then before anything else, install
the Motu card. Do you have any other cards in the system? If so make
sure that they are not sharing as well. I really had to fight with it to
get it installed.

Make sure you are using the correct drivers for the card, there are 8
bit and 16 bit.

I'm sorry I can't be anymore help, The thing is in London and I am in
Sussex,

Hey Reggie

Yes, it's a black box with 8x8 midi. Replaced my Pocket Express which had 2x4 midi. My IRQ5 is already taken and therefore tried IRQ15, but maybe I should rearrange my setup (i.e. install all over again like you said). Good to know that you got it to work in win98se. Shouldn't be much different to Millenium. Thanks a lot.

Regards

Bjorn

No problem, It only liked to go on 1 particular irq and I had to check
that it was still responding after each subsequent piece of hardware I
installed.
