How to use the suboscillator

How to use the suboscillator

2001-01-15 by C Stone

I have had an AN1X for a while and now want to emulate and play around
with a Roland SH-101 - type sound (I have an SH101 to guide me!)

But I can't easily figure out how to get use of the AN1X suboscillator.
I need it to fill out the bottom end that the 101 can do so well

Any advice, listers?

C

Does the AN1x actually *have* a sub-oscillator?

What do those special waveforms, by the way? Anyone ever figured that
one out?

Ask Gery Gregson.

Sorry Phil. I have to correct you, on Roland Synthesizers the
suboscillator is usually a square wave, the rest You wrote is ok.

Hey there
Yamaha Always had a "sine wave" as a sub-osc
all the analog CS series synth with subs are using a sine wave.
i know my Cs-60 does.

Hi C,

There's no dedicated sub oscillator on the AN1x, but it does still have 2
oscillators to play with. The Sub Osc is usually a sine wave set to one
octave below the main osc. You can set VCO2 in the AN1x to emulate this.

Please post back if you need any help setting this up.

Also, for a more realistic 101 emulation, try adding Feedback and make sure
your Edge settings are on full (or is that minimum?) so it sounds bright and
buzzy rather than soft and mellow.
