Well i finally got my AN1x!!

Well i finally got my AN1x!!

2001-01-02 by Gerry Bolda

Three days later i emerged from my small studio :) Whow!!! What an
awesome synth this is. Initially i went through all the presets, and
to no surprise they are not that great. Then i downloaded the editor
and every patch i could find on the net. After hearing some of the
amazing patches that people have made i am convinced that this synth
was a complete steal for me.

A few questions.....
I'm running a Roland Mc505 and cakewalk pro 8. I grabbed the
cakewalk ins' definition file from the vault here on the list, but
when attempting to load it in cakewalk it says this: "not a valid ins
definititon file"??? The file is only 6kb. Can anyone verify if
this file is corrupt or better yet email me the new one. Also can i
run two instrument definition files at once? Ie send controller data
to the 505 and send controller data to the An1x. Currently i'm
using the 505 inst' def' file and it's making the An1x do
unpredictable things. I have ordered a midi sport 4x4 and that
should help the connection side of things.

Well that's about it for now, i'm stuck at work wishing was at home
making music :(

Happy new year

Hi Gerry !
Happy New Year to you too !
About INS - I think you got corrupted - I can't check it 'cause I am not
having AN1x inst.def. file but they are usually larger ..
About having more than one ..
You load all instruments you have/need into the list first on the "Define
Instruments and names" window ...
And then in :
"Assign instruments" (in Cake 9 it's in Options/Instruments) you assign
different instrument definitions to different midi channels / ports ..
For example my "Roland UM-4 Port 1" 1-16 channels are assigned to EMU
Proteus Ins.Def. and "Roland UM-4 Port 2" 1-2 Channels are assigned to
AN-1x def. and so on ..
Ray.

Gerry, if the file you downloaded from here at eGroups is corrupted
then you can get the original from here http://www.yamahasynth.com/
down/main.htm#AN1x

Okay, my answer to this question was incorrect. The Cakewalk instrument
defs are not at the Yamaha site. I checked all my AN1x files and my old
Teklab mailing list archives and found the original .zip from Jim
Achens old site. I loaded up both that file and the one currently in
the Files section here at eGroups onto a Win98 machine. If I check the
properties for the file in Win98 it seems to think it is an 'Internet
Communications Setting' document - being a Mac user at home I've no
copy of Cakewalk to test further. Does anybody have a working copy of
this file? How about uploading it to the Files section to replace the
'corrupted' one...
