an1x problems PLEASE HELP ME

an1x problems PLEASE HELP ME

2000-12-20 by signorefe@lib.disco.unimib.it

sorry for my poor english, but I'm italian an so...

I have some problems with my an1x: I bought an1x in second hand...
and i suddenly foud out strange noises when I startup the synth but
only in the winther (rarely in the summer) or when the temperature is
less than 20°C ?!?!?...
I know that this problem is a known problem but how can I fix it
without spending a lot of money?

Second problem: I need a powerful randomizer LIKE the one in the CS1X
EDIT (GREAT TOOL!). I know that in the AN1XEDIT there's one but to
use it I need to activate the "MODE2"...
I found the instructions how to activate MODE2 in the original manual
but I coudn't be able to do this because my synth doesn't show me in
what mode is set... so
1) can someone suggests me a different randomizer
2) how can i set mode2?

Tanks to everybody

Huh? what do you need to be in Mode 2 to use An1xEdit randomise function?
Mode2 simply configures which controllers the synth uses....it doesn't
affect An1xEdit in any way.

You might also like to check out a program called Genetix. It can take
An1xEdit .an1 files and produce a new bank of randomised patches based on a
selected patch. I think its available for download from the An1x list web
site. (or try http://www.xgfactory.com/HTML/down/an1xed_1.htm)

I think he refers to RayGenRND from Ray. I'm pretty certain it
required the AN1x to be in MODE 2. I uploaded a copy to the Files
section some time ago http://www.egroups.com/files/AN1x-list/Windows/
Don't recall there being any doc with it - check Ray's site for
details http://www.fortunecity.com/tinpan/grunge/388/framed/

On a related note, this is the second user in recent history who has
had a problem switching from MODE 1 to MODE 2 and back again. I've
never had a problem with this under v1.02 or v1.04 (not that I've
made much use of MODE 2 mind you.) Just curious, how many others are
having problems with this?

Yes, Genetix is in the Windows directory in the Files section along
with Max's program and AN1xEdit. The Macintosh directory has the Mac
only Visual Editor from Yamaha and AN1xEdit too.

Hi !
There was a small app I made back in 98' when Gary's great AN1xEdit didn't
have it .. and
yeah , it requires you to use AN1x in MODE 2 ...
I suppose it should work as it was printed in the manual (pg. 98 or 97
AFAIK)
But I'd suggest you to try AN1xEdit now .. it's complete editor and has
randomize function too now ..
Ray.
