Has anyone created a patch similar to the buzy lead from Darude's "Sandstorm"? Been tweaking, but just can't get it. George.

Hi George Hope I didn't get your hopes up on this one, because I don't know (I really wish I did, though). But I do believe Darude uses among others the Yamaha RM1X, possibly also for the sound you're mentioning. Don't know if the fact that AN1X also being an Yamaha should have an impact on the possibilities for making that sound. If you know anybody with a RM1X, visit them and maybe find out if it's possible on that one (RM1X=sample-based?). I have had similar problems reproducing several buzzy/fat sounds used in commercial techno/trance on the AN1X. (e.g. the lead on Porn King's "Up To No Good") They probably use samplers and powerful audio processor to do that kind of thing. This probably didn't help you much, but it's a joined cry for help about how to make these megafat sounds on the AN1X. Sincerely Yours, Bjorn Standal

Hi George, I discovered a very similar sounding 'Darude' patch on my Proteus2000 recently. Unfortunately, I can't recall what the name was. I was also less impressed to discover what sounded identical to the 'Vengaboy's' "Vengabus" lead as a straight preset from my JP-8080. Phil Oh, and yes you're correct Bjørn, the RM1x uses samples as the basis for its waveforms.

Hi Accuface! Funny you should mention that, because I was just thinking of layering some of my sounds on the MC-303 with the AN1X to try to fatten it up. But I'll have to get a new MIDI-interface to get going again. I now use a 2-in/4-out MOTU interface which works OK, but it can get really frustrating when 1 MIDI in sends signal to 2 MIDI out (not every synth has the ability to mute midi-channels). Sometimes it seems there's no control where it sends anything. Besides, I've got 3 synths with keyboard on them and only 2 MIDI in. I know I can control one of the keyboards from another to reduce the need for midi in, but I like to use realtime-controllers on the synth I'm currently playing on. By the way: can the AN1X be programmed to send NRPN #160 and #161 (cut/res for MC-303) from the assignable knobs? I think it only can transmit RPN's. I would like a midi interface with 8-in/8-out. But why in the world are these things so damn expensive? It's really not that complicated technology, is it? At least it shouldn't be much harder to make a 10-in/10-out than 2-in/2-out, should there? Oh, well. Got a little bit off-topic there. Anyway: just wanted to say I appreciated your response, Accuface! Regards, Bjorn Standal aka Bearmatic www.mp3.com/bearmatic

Hi Bjorn!
You do not have o use samplers and powerful audio processors to build fat
commercial sounds! Try to combine an AN1X Lead or arpeggio with a similar
sound on a waldorfs pulse for example. As you know Binary Finary, you may
know the Kay Cee remix. They did the same!

it might not answer your question but last week I've downloaded a little program called midi-translator from the xgfactory site. it works great. It simply tells your sequenzer what to do with the midi signals you send screwing your synth's knobs. I like this program....................maybe all of you know it...............but [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

Hello All, I know it seems quite old but to catch up :o( I don't know if this would help most of you but for me I am using RM1X Cyber Bass patch with Korg Trinity Monster Lead Patch (off course with some tweaks on the filters). Works Fine. Enjoy Danny --- In AN1x-list@y..., forsa355@h... wrote:
