Ooops, Access - Virus - one in the same. My mistake. If I'd had a
second keyboard for a master controller the Nord would have been my 1st
pick over the JP8K and AN1x. But, since I didn't have a 2nd master
keyboard I went for the AN1x 18 months ago with no regrets.

I have to say the Access Virus sounded nice but it really isn't as
similar to the AN1x as I thought it would be. I did like the sound more
than the Nord Lead but that could just be the built in effects.

What do you use to process your Nord?

Usually- I run the Nord through a Boss SE-70.
Too bad it doesn't have built-in effects like the AN1x.

I know its sacrilege, But I use the Nord with the Boss to get a tasty
distorted guitar sound.

Hardly ;-) Every now and then I see the an SE-50 for sale but hardly
ever a SE-70. Have you heard the new Boss half rack?
V-somethingorother. Looks like the Y2K replacement for the SE series.

There's an AN1x vice bank on the web that's almost entirely made of
distorted lead sounds. I'll try and find that one on my hard drive.

I think the Virus sounds a little too mechanical for me (too robotic, don't like
it too much...), and the Nord Lead i like, because it has two waves that can
sync and other nice features... i'm waiting to see what the Nord Lead 3 will be
like....
And the AN1x.... well.... it's a nice little machine, isn't it? not too complex,
but different than other VA's... i mostly like the keyboard action of the an1x,
and the
the synthesizer part is also okay... but i hate menus and submenus :)

Cheers
Joel

Hhmm, that's interesting...since the floor model was screwed up I
couldn't really play it the way I wanted to. It wouldn't even respond
to the pitch bend wheel of the controller it was hooked up to. Not a
good sign :-/

I have to say that when I played a CS6x a few weeks ago I missed the
AN1x Control Matrix but when I check out the Waldorf Q I really enjoyed
the extra knobs. There's DEFINITELY more prep time involved with the
AN1x. Have you spent time with AN1xEdit or do you use the AN1x front panel?

The Q and AN1x really sound nothing alike - less so than the Virus and
AN1x so I don't see any point in comparing the two. Especially
considering the price difference. Whoa! Jump back! Think I'll settle
for the upcoming PPG VST Plug-in instead - that's more in tune with my budget.

I used to have an SE-50- the SE-70 is much better.- I have heard the new
VF-1 (it's red !) - I Love it. I'll probably buy one when they go on sale.

I may have just picked up a good bargain....
Just bought a Behrenger 2000 Multieffects unit from GC- (it has a vocoder)
for $100 brand new.- I'll have time to fiddle with it next weekend.

sounds tasty.

Found that bank of voices last night. It's a small bank of sounds from
Hijackers. I've uploaded it to the AN1x Patches directory, 'patches
from the net' Folder here at eGroups.

Uh, you may want to decrease the volume on your headphones / monitors
with these - a couple are very loud ;-)

I have the latest 'junk' mail flier from GC and I noticed the prices on
ALL the Behringer Dynamic Processors, Effects modules (including the one
you purchased), along with their mixer's are VERY attractive. What's up
with that? Is this some new trend I've missed out on? Are they trying
to fill the niche Alesis and Mackie seem to be moving away from?

There are those who state that Behringer shamelessly copies Mackie
and other designs, at a lower price but also at a lower quality.
You might want to ask around a bit, before you jump on the bandwagon,
especially concerning what problems people have had with Behringer
desks.
