SCNR: 600

SCNR: 600

2000-08-24 by Thomas Finegan

This is the 600s posting this month...we broke our own record from
last months.

I would like to thank everyone (yes all 182 list-members) for
contributing and keep this mailinglist so much alive, funny and
informative (despite a lot of OT´s, which are indeed refreshing).

Did you know that there are in our file-secton on egroup.com already
more than 13MB of patchfiles, documentations, tips´n´tricks?

Check for yourself:

Thanks to those, who carried this massive amout of data together for
our AN1x (and created it).

It´s great fun to be here.

Cheers, Tom Finegan (one of the list moderator).

p.s. Don´t forget you can also join with your MP3-music the AN1x
station on MP3.com and also join the AN1x-webring:

Quality vs. Quantity (was Re: SCNR: 600)

Yes, but the quantity does not reflect the quality. :-(

IMO, there have been too many OT posts which border on insulting. To
be specific, the 'American' vs. 'European' stereotype posts. These
are foul and have no place on a proper mailing list. To those who
find these humorous or informative - I'm sorry for you. I take no
small pride in my European heritage and my American upbringing. My
background defines me as a musician/parent/member of the human race
and I take exception at these feeble attempts to implicitly quantify
people based soley on geography.

Second, the large number of repeat posts on these threads should be
self policed. If you're mature enough to post your unsolicited
opinion on the Internet than exercise enough self discipline to know
when to take it "offline". I modified my eGroups subscription to 'Web
Only' for this list to avoid the excessive number of these emails
littering my "in box".

And finally, I have to express my surprise and disappointment at the
relatively few list members (given a membership of 180+?!) who
participate on the list by posting new topics or questions. Surely we
can find something other to discuss than 'Football' vs. 'Fussball',
wooden clogs, or lederhosen.

My apologies in advance to anyone whom this reply offends. I've tried
to ignore most of the recent subject matter - solely for my own peace
of mind - and limit my replies to AN1x specific or technical issues.
However, given the steady growth of this list I will no longer hold
my tongue regarding the direction we've taken.

Does anybody else feel similar or am I out on a limb here?

Regards,
Jon "that other list moderator" Levinson
