Yes, well!!, when I'm working I really like to turn some knobs and being able to tweak the sounds, and for example, there the JP has the advantage in several more knobs. It has a couple more OSC and room for more sounds. Furthermore, it has a great sound, it's a bit more cleaner in sound than the An1x, and as I remember the 8080 also have the vocoder. I do not own one of these myself, I went for the Virus B instead, now there's a KILLERSYNTH!!!!. Ups!!! sorry, what I mean is that the JP8000/8080 has more features and a cleaner sound, but you also pay that much extra. Also there is the way it makes the sounds, but that's all about taste.

As I said you get more for the money when buying a An1x

Will you forget about the keys!!!! =)

I have no doubt there were no noise when listening through a 01v =)

I meant the way it made the sound, but i guess it all bears down to taste.

I think I will take your word for it. I checked this machine out when it was released, but choose to buy the AN1X instead.

Not sure about the waveforms myself.

Anyway, taste is the keyword here I think. Some people like the 01v mixer and some thinks it has to "hard" an output, some like the Nordlead and some thinks it sucks. I just think that when JP8000 produces a sound, it "sounds" cleaner/better, or should I say, the way I want it, for a specific task. Every synth has it's own way of making a sound, therefore even though it has basically the same features it has it's own "sound". As an ex. take the old 303, no other machine has been able to produce the same "sound". Granted there are some machines out there that can give a very good result, but it just can't make the exact same "sound". The same goes for a wide range of older synths.

That´s simply the typical "Roland"sound. Clean and Hifi-like. A Virus
e.g. sounds more raw, but also more thin. Or a Nordlead, fresh, mean
but fat. And so on...

What i wonder though is...does every An1x sounds the same? Or does a
Stock-A AN1x sounds different from a Stock-C AN1x? (Different OS,
different DSP´s and so on)

That's a good question, but I don't think so...but would be cool if they
(Yamaha) release an OS2.0 w/ the PLG150-AN improvements plus the AN1x scenes
mode.

PinheadX.

The question here was intended for me, not the "dude" that spammed this list, just to promote himself. Or maybe I'm missing something here.

Actually is it fun to hear what feelings people have towards different synths.

Oh, you are right, sorry, i thought that Philip were asking
the "Dude" and not you.

The question was originally to Jan (Pergamon) as he
was claiming that the JP8000 was just better, but not
providing insight or substance as to why he thought it
was better. I was simply curious as to why he thought
the way he did.
Cheers,

Philip

P.S. I'm finally getting off my lazy butt and
contributing some new sounds to the list, probably
this weekend.

I would be more than surprised if there were any difference between two
AN1x's. I mean, the analogue emulation isn't *that* good, you know. :)

Does it have an ON / OFF button????? or is that part of an upgrade/expansion board????

I know what you mean <g>, what a shmae...i thought they would have
built in a kind of "fuzzy-logic"circuits to emulate the imperfection
of Analogue Synths. Well, this can be a disadvantage but also be seen
as a big advantage, or would you like to "warm up" your AN1x for an
hour, before use, and try to bring it back on the right tune for
another one...like the Minimoog...who always detunes after a while.

Well, the one bug that the AN1x really has is a hardware bug, and it only
surfaces if your AN1x is still cold... figures. :)

See? The fuzzy-logic IS built in...j/k
