I think this is normal, it happens to me too at least =)
I'm not entirely sure, but i *think* the lights blink up at an accented
note. =)

actually, i think i figured this one out - something like a self-inflicted midi loopback thing - details too boring to bother people with here...

thanks!!

Nothing to worry about.

If you have it when you start up the AN1x with a Dual voice activated, it's
a hardware problem, the only real known bug of the AN1x.If it's still under
warranty, you could take it back and have it fixed.

As Joel indicated, this is normal when using the Arp/Seq or Free EG to
alter settings. Don't worry about it.

As Peter mentioned it is a hardware problem known to Yamaha and can be
serviced. I've had the repair performed and detained the experience on
my AN1x page http://www.jdlx-musique.com/

There was some minor debate - well over a year ago on the Teklab list -
whether the problem became worse over time or not. Personally, I'm glad
I had the repair performed but I don't know that it's necessary to
ensure the longevity of your AN1x.

ah ok - i'll keep an eye on it - although i really think in this case i was
getting some kind of midi dribble loopback thru my setup..

Hi
I also get a similar problem. I've noticed when I boot my An1x up and both
the scenes are on loud blips come out, when I turn a scene off it goes away,
but If I turn both scenes back on It chirps again till it warms up, and the
go away.
I also notice that If I had a pad type sound on the keys and held a chord,
the bllep seem to preceed the re-trigerring of the sound.

Did any of this make sense?

What you have described - almost verbatim - is the known problem both
Peter and I eluded to in an earlier post. Yamaha can repair the problem
- it is a hardware fix referred to as a 'factory modification'. I've
posted some details of my experience having the repair performed on my
AN1x Page http://www.jdlx-musique.com/

I don't recall if Peter ever had the fix performed. It probably
bothered me more than him ;-) I'd heard about this 'bug' (inaccurate
description I know) prior to buying my AN1x and figured I had a 50/50
chance of getting a model without the problem :-/ If your AN1x is under
Warranty - go for it! If not, ask how much it will cost before
deciding. You might ask what the long term effects on the unit will be
without having the repair performed. As far as I know no one ever
figured out if it gets worse or not?

fyi - there's an AN1x on eBay this week. High Bid is at $570. Saw a
couple on Harmony Central too.

I've been thinking about this while putzing with some patches. Since
the VCA for each Scene can have its own level is it possible their is a
routing in the Control Matrix to VCA Level - or more likely in the Ctrl
Device (under Utility)? Does it happen on EVERY sound? What happens if
you change the Eff Bypass setting to Only Rev or All EF? Does the weird
reverb thing still happen?

Have you checked to see if your AN1x is in Mode 1 or Mode 2? Mode 1 is the
default and I believe necessary for AN1xEdit. Mode 2 reassigns the
standard MIDI CC's and from what I can tell is provided to allow you to
automate more parameters via your sequencer. I think at least one of
the Win freeware apps - RayGND uses Mode 2.

Mode 1 is NOT necessary to use AN1xEdit. I use Mode 2 without problems with
the editor.

How do you switch an AN1x between mode 1 and mode 2?

Cheers
Grant.

See page 96 of the Owners Manual for more details:

"To change between modes, first turn off the power. Then,
press and hold [ASSIGN] and press the [POWER] switch.
Either "mode 1" or "mode 2" will appear in the LCD at the
start-up procedure to indicate which mode is activated."
