Editor needed for PC (Win 7)

Editor needed for PC (Win 7)

2012-02-18 by paulbenn43

Hi folks,

I've been using my AN1X for years but I've never found the need for a software editor before. My battery is just now getting low, so I need to get AN1x Edit, or something similar, to save the patches - plus I'm interested in the soundscaping possibilities of the editor too.

Where can I get a PC editor for the synth that will work with Win 7? My computer won't load the file I've found as it says it's "not a 32 bit programme", or somesuch. Please excuse me if this is a ridiculous newbie request with an obvious answer. Cheers!

Hi,

If you search the earlier posts on the board, then this was discussed three or four weeks back, and some people have had some success running AN1xEdit on Win 7.

You could also use a standard utility like MIDIOX to capture a SYSEX dump from the AN1x. In fact if your battery is low, I'd do this ASAP before anything else. Just in case the battery goes whilst you're investigating getting AN1xEdit working

You can also try out my an.factory librarian, which can be found at www.xfactory-librarians.co.uk. It doesn't support editing (yet) though, but meets all of my needs for patch management.

Cheers
Derek

Hi !
you can save and get back your patches with a basic MIDI software such
as MIDI Ox , it's a freeware available on the net. But you cannot edit
them, except in hexadecimal if you know well the structure of AN1x's
sysex files... I don't know if it works with seven but it's worth a try.
Have you tried to set the compatibility of your own editor ? Rignt click
on the shortcut (or .exe file) -> properties -> compatibility, then set
it to your last working configuration, i.e XP.
Cheers.
