Issues with Virtual win xp or 7 and midisport 8x8 with an1x editor

Guys
i need help
I have both XP and 7 virtualised in Virtual box and Fusion with midisport 8x8.
When i use the an1x editor to retrieve and send patches/voice to my an1x it fails with
"Recieve error - Retry or cancel"
I know the interface is fine because i have tried this on another pc thats not virtualised at all. works fine.
Any idea's ???
