Trouble using spit mode

Trouble using spit mode

2011-04-18 by cainjosh76

I just bought a yamaha an1x. I reset the factory presets and eveything seems to be working fine except the split mode function. The left half of the keyboard plays one sound but the right half has no sound. In dual mode I can use the mod wheel to go beween scenes one and two but scene two always sounds like a default saw wave and scene one will load the patch sound. If I hold down the scene 1 button and select a different sound on the number pad it will load it and if do the same thing on scene 2 it will not, it always loads a defaut saw wave. This is hard to figure out why scene 1 loads and operates on the right side during split or dual mode but scene 2 does not in dual mode and does not operate at all in split mode leaving the right half of the keyboard with no sound at all. Can anyone please help, maybe there is a setting in the matrix thats off or something I am doing wrong. Thanks Josh

If it does that after a factory reset I don't think it is because of some
parameter muting scene 2 and especially if it does the same thing with
different patches.

May be something went wrong during the factory reset. Did you try to make a
second factory reset to see if the problem persist?

Can you provide an example of a factory preset that exhibits this behavior?

Very odd - I can't recreate that. Can you give an example?

Again, very odd - when I copy new a new voice to Scene 1 and Scene 2 it works fine. Are you remember to store the new, combined voice after you have copied new voices to each Scene?

Possibly - use the Assign knob to select VOICE/COMMON and use the rocker switch under Split Pnt - the default is C3.

Someone I know once had a problem, where a voice board inside the AN1x
had broken, so he had only half of the voices available, and experienced
similar behaviour as you. It could be that, in which case I would have a
call with Yamaha, and the person who sold it to you, in that order.
