Yamaha AN1x will not fully boot up

Yamaha AN1x will not fully boot up

2011-04-04 by cainjosh76

I was loading midi files with the editor and everything was working fine. After I was finished I turned off the AN1x and restart. The power came on but the screen stays stuck reading (Yamaha 1997). I have restarted it several times and it is still stuck. I tried to perform a factory reset twice by holding down 7,8,9, at the same time while powering up and it is still stuck. I'm at a lose. Can anyone help? Josh

is it possible the battery needs replaced?

I (think) that's what this means. I know this topic has been broached before
so one of the gurus should be able to help.

Hi Josh,

does it hang on "Yamaha 1997", like freeze or does it do a reboot after a
couple of seconds.
Have you changed the battery lately??

Hi !
is your backup battery too low ?
Or anything is gone wrong with the memory ? Looks like the synth is
unable to load the OS, or hangs up in some power on self test step...
Try to remove the backup battery (yes !), the RAM will be quickly empty,
then try to perform a full factory reset. (option "9" when you are in
the reset menu, it scratches and loads back everything in RAM, not only
the voices)
If it works fine replace your backup battery by a new one ...type CR2450
button battery cell.
Cheers.

I think this is a power supply issue. I already helped out another dude
right here with the same issue just a few months ago if you search in this
list. I had found a thread on fr.audiofanzine.com where some other French
dudes had the exact same problem as yours. I also linked that thread in my
reply that you can translate with an online tool...

Below is my original reply on the same topic from the February 8th...

I found a thread of a guy who had the same issue as
you<http://fr.audiofanzine.com/synthe-modelisation/yamaha/AN1X/forums/t.306617,an1x-blocage-sur-welcome-an1x.html>and
he said the problem was the power supply.

It's in French but you can use Babel Fish or Google Translate...
