Very weird problem with MAudio Fast Track

Very weird problem with MAudio Fast Track

2010-12-29 by solaristica01

Recently I can only hear the AN1X through my Maudio Fast track interface if both delay, or the dry+wet values are raised all the way up in the synth.

it is the weirdest thing. The synth sounds great through its stereo outputs, and headphones, it is just through the MAudio... The signal is so low, and weird... It will only work with the delay all the way up...

Any one has any idea what is up with that?

Thanks very much.

V.

"it'll only work the the delay all the way up" seems like some sort of
strange latency issue with the fast track. have you tried other instruments
through the fast track and do they work properly? I have a mobilepre i use
all the time without glaring error.

I figured out what it is I believe. I need to have just one output cable from the AN1X, since M-Audio Fast Track is mono. I unhooked one of the sides just to see what happens and the signal became much stronger, and normal...

That did it. Why? Like I said, I believe it is because the fasttrack only sees mono, but maybe there is some other hidden reason there...

Thanks for answering to me though.

Happy New Year!

Not knowing the fasttrack, it sounds like if you plugged one channel into
the input, and one into the output, you may have created either a feedback
loop or taken it out of phase. The feedback loop makes more sense given what
you said about the delay, but either way you'd get diminished, scratchy
signal.

Glad it works now though

Hiya. new here, so be gentle!!
if your fast track is mono balanced input, then it takes one inphase signal from one of the 3 contacts (TRS jack or XLR?), and one anti phase signal from the other contact, & the 3rd contact is ground.
what it then does is invert the antiphase signal, and summ it with the inphase signal, boosting the music signal by 6dB, and cancelling all the picked up 'noise' out on the way.

If you feed it stereo signal instead of balanced signal (stereo trs jack?) then it'll take the right signal, invert it & add it to the left signal, cancelling everything that is mono, or centre panned.
ouch!

sounds like that's what you've done.

cheers.
