OK but can it handle bulk dumps. I remember that there used to be some problems - maybe due to large file size of an1x programs...

I use the same setup for several synths and do bulk dumps etc. Basically
never had a problem with anything. Here’s that flawless part you’re looking
for.

Seems good.

Re: MIDI interfaces?

Hi, I use a MOTU MIDI Express 128, 8*8 USB MIDI Interface and it works fine with the AN1x

Now, one problem that you have alluded to is that some drivers for the interfaces have small buffers which can cause problems if you try and send the SYSEX messages in one go. In fact when I moved to the MOTU interface compared to my older Maya interface, I found that I had problems for this reason in the software that I write, and I had to adapt the programs to be able to set and adjust the buffer size that I use to send data. So if the message doesn't fit in a buffer, it is split into several chunks and sent with a small delay between each chunk.

I can't speak for AN1xEdit (as I don't use it), but my an.factory program (www.xfactory-librarians.co.uk) works fine with the MOTU interface and the AN1x.

Hope that helps.

Cheers
Derek

Ok, thanks everyone for your replies.

Has anyone had any bad experiences? Some specific brand/model to avoid?

hi, I have a focusrite saffire pro40... wonderful audio interface, but its built in midi interface is crap. I use external sequencers (quasimidi sirius and raven) that have very small song memory (16 and 10 songs), and when I dumped my songs back from pc I only got a bunch of random notes instead of my songs... luckily, I also dumped everything on my ensoniq sd1 (it receives sysex dumps that can be stored on old dsdd floppy disks) before erasing the memory, so I managed to get my songs back... I contacted focusrite staff, and they admitted that there are bugs in the drivers that have yet to be solved... that's not professional anyway... hadn't I got the sd1, all my sequenced songs would have been lost forever...

Motu Fastline works well. M-Audio Audiophile doesn't!
