note from moderator re:unexpected incident

2010-09-28 by spaceanimals

As the other moderator, let me caution people about sending money in response to this post supposedly from Jon stuck in London and unable to pay his bills. Since I can't believe Jon would use this forum to ask for money, I have to believe this is a scam.

Thank you

Jim

Apologies to the list.

Yes, my Yahoo! email account appears to have been compromised.

Whatever the cause, my Contacts in my Yahoo! email account appear to have been deleted as a result - it even tried to unsubscribe me from this list.

Fortunately this account is used primarily for online subscriptions, such as this maiingl list, and other music tech forums. Needless to say I'm in the process of performing some housekeeping.

In regards to AN1x-list, there appears to have been no negative impact aside from this unfortunate email.

For those interested, I found this recent article on the subject:

http://dagblog.com/humor-satire/who-hijacked-yahoo-mail-3151

and my search turned up a few other hits from users also affected on this same date.

A past acquaintance of mine suffered the same issue many months ago, clearly Yahoo! is not on top of the situation.

Again, my apologies to the list for the inconvenience.

Regards,

Jon

RE: [AN1x] note from moderator re:unexpected incident

Having hung out with Jon a few times I found the "tears in my eyes"
statement HILARIOUSLY out of character.

Jon would probably be laughing at this if he wasn't so pissed at the
inconvenience.
