AN1x OS Upgrade

AN1x OS Upgrade

2010-06-17 by derek192603

Hi,

Following a question over at YamahaForums.co.uk, I made some queries at Yamaha UK to see if the AN1x OS upgrade is still available.

I have been told that Yamaha UK have limited stock left and an upgrade costs £22 inc shipping.

Just thought I'd pass that one (I already have V1.04 myself)

Yamaha UK can be contacted on 0844 811 1116

Cheers
Derek

Can you tell me how to find out what OS version is installed now in my AN1x?

How does the 1.04 upgrade add a lot of features/ voices?

Thanks

There's a keyboard combination to press... can't find it with Google
right now.

It fixes a few minor bugs. It adds absolutely no features or voices. If
you don't suffer from these bugs, chances are you don't want to upgrade
your AN1x.

Mine still has the original ROMs and I've never seen any reason to
upgrade them.

Press '0' '-' and '+' down whilst powering on, which will get you into the test mode. The OS version is briefly shown at the start.

Cheers

Not me... IMHO the differences should be quite invisible for the user.
But some people on the forum know these differences.

Yes. You have to open your synth and change an EEPROM. If you have
changed a graphic card or upgraded the RAM in your computer it is not
harder. The main difficulty is to find the EEPROM loaded with the last
O.S. Ask your local Yamaha distributor or repair shop.
One last thing : before removing the existing EEPROM check its position
in its socket : there is a mark on a little side of the device, or on a
corner. Mount the new one in this position...
