AN200 MIDI Out

AN200 MIDI Out

2010-03-06 by lars.arnwald@wanadoo.fr

Hello,
According to the AN200 MIDI Implementation Chart, dated Dec 2000, version 1.0, Note On data is being transmitted with velocities 1-127 meaning Note On and velocity 0 meaning Note Off. What are the possible origins of this data? Are the Pattern banks echoed when played in realtime? My fear is they are not, and in this case what other Note data is echoed then? In the case of no rhythm data echoed, are there any workarounds?
A quirk in the Chart is that the Note data being recognized only include Note On v = 1-127. How are notes being ended then?
Regards, Lars

Thanks for your reply, I understand well what you're saying. Still, my MIDI Implementation Chart (MIC) doesn't state reception of messages like your:

We don't need to delve into that, for now it's more of secondary interest, something I just observed.

Here's what really interests me.
As a whole, there's very little of TRANSMISSION of MIDI data in the manual's Tips and other pieces of text, and especially about Note data being emitted from the AN200. Since I want to explore the AN200 as an arpeggiator, the transmission part is important. Yet, the MIC states the following, and unfortunately I can't copy the column format, but I'm sure you'll get it anyway:
Basic Channel Default, Transmitted: 1-4
Basic Channel Changed, Transmitted: 1-16
Note Number, Transmitted: 1-127
Note Number True Voice, Transmitted: **************
Velocity Note On, Transmitted: 9nH, v=1-127
Velocity Note Off, Transmitted: 9nH, v=0
What is True Voice? Is it the range of note numbers synthesizers will recognize? Over the years, the first thing I always dived into was the the MIC, and still I missed that piece of the puzzle. Shame on me. In this case, and probably in previous ones, I satisfied myself with the two Velocity lines. They indicate that note data is transmitted.

Finally, can somebody please explain what note data is being transmitted, and possibly the True Voice concept as well.
Thanks in advance, Lars

Thank you Paul for explaining the meaning of True Voice, about time I learnt that.
I definitely should have been more precise in my question about the MIDI Out. Like I stated in my first posting, I was looking for the origins of the note data.
The AN200 Pattern List has two preset banks + one user bank, each one consisting of 128 programs. Since all these have BPM settings, I assume they all are recorded sequences, and they get loaded into the rhythm tracks.
So again (sigh!!), do these tracks, synth track + rhythm tracks 1-3, together with user activities at the AN200 keyboard get echoed at the MID Out?
