key stopped working

key stopped working

I have one note that doesn't sound. How hard is this to fix--I have no technical savvy, but I know people who do.

Thanks

Jim

If you have a Screwdriver and a camera you should be able to fix it yourself. Remember to dump your sysex info prior to doing anything.

Remove all the screws from the bottom and then take pictures of the inside of the board. You'll have to remove a few things to get access to the keybed. Just be careful not to pole the circutry with your screwdriver or pull any wires and you should be fine.

There is a long circuit board screwed to the keybed that has sensors and a rubber strip that hits it when the keys are pressed. Most likely the rubber is dusty or the sensors are dirty. They just need to be cleaned with a damp lint-free cloth.

I got my AN1x real cheap because I bought it this way.

when I bought my AN1x on eBAY 7 years or so ago the bottom "C" didn't work. I took it apart without any knowledge of repair and found a rubber strip under the key contacts. I wiped it down, don't remember with what but I'm sure I didn't use anything other than a damp cloth, and have no problems since. Knock on wood. As always, YMMV.

Hi Dave !
you're right. Most of the keyboard issues are keys contacts problems,
and most of the keyboards today have rubber "bubbles" between the keys
and some kind of PCB : clean them carefully and it's fixed. Don't use
any solvent or abrasive cloth, the result would be worse than doing
nothing !
Cheers.
