Seasons Greetings to AN1x-list!

I'd like to express my gratitude for your continued support and participation on AN1x-list. Thank you for making it a reliable and enjoyable resource. I'm a little in awe that we've been at it for ten years now! So something good did come from the 'Noughties decade" after all ;-)

I wish you, and your families, all the very best for the new year - and the new decade. Let's hope it's a good one!

Kind regards,

Jon

It’s been an absolute blast being on this group. We’ve shared some amazing
patches over the years in the “Files” section. Some of us have gotten
together for “meetings of the synthesized minds” lunches. And generally
it’s a very pleasant bunch of folk being good to one another.

Question – anybody out there own a CS6x? I ran across a demo on Youtube and
was impressed. It seems like it’s got a rompler based engine that can do
some AN1x type of sounds via filters and effects. Opinions?

Cs6x has an an1x plugin card that is probably what you are hearing.

The CS6x is a pre-Motif rompler that uses the AN expansion cards like the
earlier Motifs do.

Not me...
AN1x - Kawaï K1 - Casio CZ - Red Sound Elevata - Evolution EVS1 ... ;-)

You can watch http://www.vintagesynth.com/yamaha/cs6x.php
but i suppose it's done .
On the second hand market the CS6x is not so common, like the AN1x too.
Not very expensive, but not common, i suppose people keep them, being a
reliable keyboard. The rack version (IMHO more interesting for an AN1x
owner) is a kind of rare bird.
Examples :
http://fr.audiofanzine.com/yamaha/petites-annonces/shops.1,post.1,q.cs6x.html
No CS6r in sight...
You can have it in english too. Nothing on V.S.E..
Cheers

Re: CS6X

2010-01-02 by Steve

I have an S80 with PLG150AN and PLG150DX cards (CS6X also has 2 expansion board slots). S80 has the same synth engine as CS6X. Missing the knobs and (small)sampler, but an extra 8mb of Piano. It has 12 different filter combinations; all sound quite good. Effects are also good except for a terrible rotary speaker sim. One of the effects is an a-e-i-o-u vocal formant filter. Very deep editing possible, but can't do hard sync or ring mod sounds. External storage is by (obsolete) smart media card. There are a few free sound banks out there. Jayb's S80/CS6X bank has a lot of Roland supersaw and Access Virus-type sounds. -Steve

Re: [AN1x] Re: CS6X

I'd recommed the Motif (classic) or ES, both have sampling ability, 3 PLG slots and built-in sequencer (a powerful one). CS keyboard is just a rompler with no sequencer and it uses an old big ugly SD type memory cards which is rare to find. The motif/ES offers (SCSI/USB)... And they're cheap now...

Phreaque

On the other hand, the CS runs cheaper. If you're using a DAW alot you're
not likely to use the sequencer...
