help me please

help me please

2009-12-06 by jackjohnaldson

I purchased an an1x recently and I need a decent patch editor.
I can't seem to find one that works for my system I have a mac mini running snow leopard my midi devices are an m-audio uno and a presonus firestudio 26x26. With sysex librarion I am able to load sysex files the problem is that I can't seem to find very many of them so I need an editor that can load all formats

Thanks, Jack

Official Yamaha editor support ended with OS9.

You can run AN1X Edit for Windows using Boot Camp (free), Parallels Desktop ($$$), etc. but you'll need a copy of XP to install ($$$).

AN1X Edit for Windows can be found in the Files section of this site.

Have you been through the Files section for AN1x-list here at Yahoo! Groups. There are a number of older Voice archives that have .MID and .SYX format Voices. This has become a common enough request from Mac User's that I should find the time to convert some of the .an1 archives and re-archive them with both formats.

an.factory is probably going to be developed further and might be a possible solution of Mactel users who want an editor/librian in the future:

Hi Jack

I'm in the same boat, and after exploring a few different options the best solution I have found for now is to install Windows XP via bootcamp and use an1xedit. I tried XP on Parallels but that was messy in terms of switching / sharing midi connections between the two OS, and the reliability of the midi transmissions in general. XP is actually very compact in terms of disk space, so you shouldn't need to sacrifice much. AFAIK there is no editor which runs on OSX which has anything like the functionality of an1xedit.

Good Luck!

I'm just using an old XP laptop and a MidiSport 2x2 in addition to my
Mac setup. I can patch it right into my main rig which runs off an
AMT8 interface. Definitely a cheaper option.

I use SysExLibrarian.dmg to send SysEx files to my AN1X.

I converted the AN1X files to SysEx (all of the factory type files – not the forum collections) using AN1Factory. I also have all the AN1X (all of them on the AN1X site) in a Midiquest formats – Library and Bank (which was my end goal).

I am happy to pass these onto the forum if required. If the moderator can contact me I’ll arrange for this to happen.
