an.factory 2.0

an.factory 2.0

2009-11-24 by derek192603

Hello all.

First of all thanks to Jeff for running this group and for giving me permission to make this post.

I'm pleased to announce the second release of an.factory, the x.factory librarian for the AN1x.

an.factory runs on both PCs and MAC OSX.

This new version adds Library support, which allows you to keep all of your favourite items (Voices and Sequences) in one Library database, and then sort and filter them to find the patch that you want.

Now this work is complete, after a small break, now I've completed all the main librarian features in the x.factory apps, I will be thinking of adding editing support to the librarians, and the AN1x will probably one of the first candidates. I'll also be adding other support such as moving patches between AN1x, PLG150-AN and AN200.

an.factory is released as shareware and a modest registration fee is required to enable file save, MIDI export and librarian support in what I believe is a commercial quality application. Other than that the unregistered application is fully function, which allows you to evaluate the product.

an.factory can be found over at http://www.xfactory-librarians.co.uk

Cheers
Derek

Thanks Derek, but i don't run anything, it is an anarcho syndicalist
commune... ;-)
I wrote you it was a good idea but i gave you no "permission" , because
i'm not in charge of such things.
Sorry for the misunderstanding and
Cheers.

Hey Jeff,

just installed it. Do I get it right, that I can store and load the "Free Envelopes" seperately? That would be great, because then I can store the typical trance-gate-pattern and copy them to other sounds.

Greetings, tonmanns

Hi,

This is Derek, author of an.factory.

an.factory does allow you to copy components from voices freely to another one. In the case of the Free EG, you can copy/move the entire free EG or individual tracks to another voice.

If you wanted to store Free EGs as library objects, I could consider adding that to the next release, as I can see the use of doing that, like storing sequences.

Cheers
Derek

With AN1x edit you can :
load a voice from the synth with the desired "free EG pattern(s)" (4
"tracks" maximum per pattern) on your computer
copy and paste the track(s) to any other voice(s) and finally:
store the modified voice back in your instrument.
As the user manual says :
"Individual Free EG Tracks may be copied and pasted using the Edit Menu
Copy/Paste commands.
To copy and paste a Track:

* Select the desired track using the EDIT TRACK control.
* Select the ‘Copy’ item from the EDIT menu to copy the track to the
clipboard (this will delete any data currently on the clipboard)
* Select the desired paste track using the EDIT TRACK control (this
may be within the same voice, a different voice or a different
library).
* Select the ‘Paste Track’ item from the EDIT menu."

The free EG data are stored at the "scene" level.
But this has to be done with the help of a computer, on the synth itself
you can edit (with the knobs) the free EG patterns but not copy a
parameter from one voice to the other. Nor copy directly a voice from a
memory address to another one...
Being freely downloadable, AN1x edit is a must for this kind of voice
management (sort, copy , swap etc...voices).
Cheers.
J.F.
That would be great, because then I can store the typical trance-gate-

pattern and copy them to other sounds."

Greetings, tonmanns

Great, but can I store several Free envelopes to a fil, to save them and to chose from? I guess not, but I wasn´t aware of the possibility in AN1X Edit anyway...

Seems like the old RTFM ;)

Greetings, tonmanns

Separately? Surely no !
These EG patterns are only a part of a sound file, not a file by
themselves. But you can write "dummy" sound files on your computer with
any EG pattern(s) you want and after copy and paste the desired
pattern(s) to a "real" sound file of your choice.
Have a nice week end !
